Preparing for the Future of Generative AI

AI (Artificial Intelligence), which means artificial intelligence in Chinese, is no longer a unfamiliar word today. AI is everywhere, and the most familiar one is probably the chat robot ChatGPT that appeared last autumn. ChatGPT knows almost everything despite math is less developed than other fields. It saved us a lot of time on search integration and became a new favorite to help people learn. But have we ever thought about why ChatGPT has so much energy? How can AI be used by humans in other industries?

With the rapid development of AI in various fields, it is easy to come to the conclusion that "a large number of job positions will be eliminated in the future", "there will not be so many people in the workplace in the future", and "a powerful AI system will perform cognitive work at a higher level than human labor". This is a huge misjudgment.

Labor force develops with the development of generative AI, rather than being replaced. Leaders who deal with the coexistence of generative AI and human resources can take the following steps: objectively view and actively respond. Training of professionals. We need to plan an internal department who will be responsible for continuously monitoring and adjusting AI systems and tools. With the dynamic development of AI, new potential risks and opportunities will emerge, requiring dedicated business teams to monitor risks, develop short-term and long-term scenarios, and seize new growth opportunities. Once again, when it comes to AI, the focus of the leader must shift from the frontline to the high-level. Leaders need to focus on how to enable humans and AI to collaborate efficiently to complete their work. For most employees, how to match the extensive functions of AI with daily cognitive tasks and learn how to use multimodal AI for more and better work. Finally, leaders need to master the constantly changing AI workforce framework. Predict how and when the workforce needs to undergo changes in order to leverage AI.

In this period of change and uncertainty, the best thing an organization can do is plan for the future. It is certain that some jobs will be eliminated, but new job opportunities will also arise as a result. This requires leaders to understand the limitations and advantages of generative AI, adopt a culture of continuous evaluation and improvement, resist the temptation to reduce employees, and use strategic foresight to create the future. In this future, highly skilled employees can utilize AI, and collaboration between humans and future AI teams will result in higher productivity, creativity, and efficiency than working alone.

Artist of the Week 每周艺术家

August Natterer

August Natterer, given the pseudonym “Neter” by his psychiatrist, was a German outsider artist with schizophrenia. Natterer worked as an electrician before experiencing intense hallucinations of the Last Judgement on April 1st, 1907. He narrates: He explained: I saw images… as quick as a flash followed each other, about 10,000 in half an hour. God himself occurred, the witch, who created the world – in between worldly visions: images of war, continents, memorials, castles, beautiful castles, just the glory of the world – but all of this to see in supernal images. This apocalyptic theme would be central to many of his hallucinations, which he painted and drew, never receiving formal training.

Natterer’s works were published in 1922 in Artistry of the Mentally Ill, a book by German psychiatrist Hans Prinzhorn. The publication entailed the full-color reprints and in-depth analysis of the artworks of 10 schizophrenic artists, whom Prinzhorn called the “schizophrenic masters.” It is the first book that analyzed the works of psychiatric patients from an artistic perspective, rather than a psychological perspective. Natterer’s works subsequently influenced many avant-garde German artists, who sought new worldviews and methods to navigate their postwar world. Famous artists like Max Ernst had drawn from his surreal but exceedingly complex compositions.
